The Media Site
The White Wind Zen Community Archives comprises thousands of teisho, Dharma Talks, and classes presented by Zen Master Anzan Hoshin and his Lineage since the early 1980s. It includes physical and electronic recordings, transcripts, and published materials. The purpose of the WWZC Archives is to preserve and make available the Teachings of Reality presented by the Hakukaze stream of Dogen’s Lineage of Zen, for this and coming generations of students.
As a student of Zen Master Anzan Hoshin’s Lineage, you have access through the Media Site to hundreds of recordings from the Archives to support your practice. More recordings are regularly added. Files are currently in MP3 format, and over time will be offered in OGG (open source) format.
Your access to this priceless treasury of Teachings has been made possible by the many thousands of hours spent by the Roshi in presenting teisho, and translating and providing commentary on classical texts; by Dharma Teachers Jinmyo Renge sensei and Shikai Zuiko O-sensei, who have presented hundreds of Dharma Talks; by the monks who have contributed tens of thousands of dollars as well as samu time to ensure that the Teachings are recorded, catalogued, and made available to students; and by the archiving samu of a few lay students.
All recordings are the copyright of White Wind Zen Community.
Using the Media Site
Recorded Teachings downloaded from the Media Site are for the use of students only and may not be “shared” with friends or acquaintances. They should not be downloaded onto MP3 players since they are easily lost or stolen. If you do download them onto an MP3 player, it should not leave your home.
Listening to Teisho
Listening to recorded Teachings is an important part of your practice. If you are sitting once a week, listen to one recording a month. If you are sitting several times a week, listen to one recording a week. If you are sitting everyday, listen to two recordings a week.
The first time you listen to a particular recording should be while you are sitting zazen.
Associate and general students have separate teisho curriculum appropriate for that category of enrollment.
New associate students should begin with the “Before Thinking” series, and then follow along through the associate student teisho curriculum. General students can continue listening to any of the recordings from the associate student curriculum, and then follow along through the general student curriculum.
Donations
All donations to defray the costs associated with making the Teachings available (supplies and equipment, computers and software) are gratefully appreciated. Donate .
